Hydropower plants (including the switching station) built in middle and southern section of north–south zone China are always situated complex geological settings transition zones from strong to weak earthquakes with active faults. It is great importance carry out careful evaluation slope stability considering various loading scenarios ensure safe operation power stations. By using rigid body limit equilibrium method finite element method, effects long-term load seismic on for a large hydropower station were studied. The results show that safety factors meet requirements when under action Wenchuan Lushan earthquake loads. guaranteed. However, risk analysis design shows factor less than accidental working condition 1.05. Under earthquake, crumbling block gravel soil layer shallow natural slides destabilizes, which obviously beyond its protection capacity, therefore, effective defense measures should be developed personnel equipment operating station.
